BLOGMAS Day 2: Winter Favorites

BLOGMAS Day 2: Winter Favorites

One day I'm going to be as smart as the birds and I move with the seasons to avoid the long, bitter-cold winter.  The truth is that I really don't like winter.  I can feel like it's time wasted in hibernation, preoccupied with ways to stay warm, just waiting for summer...
Of all the places I've lived before (Germany, New Jersey, Washington State), the winter in Salt Lake City, Utah is the most manageable.  While it can be icy cold for months, there is still blue skies and sunshine.  And sunshine makes this girl very happy.  What else is good in winter...

-Christmas Lights.  I really like seeing Christmas light displays in public places.
-Wrapping my cold hands around a nice cup of rosehip and hibiscus tea.
-Enjoying a nice cup of coffee in the early morning.

-Soup.  It’s another one of those things that will warm you right through.
-Listening to music or an audio book.
-I love sending and receiving holiday cards.
-Bird watching.
-Staying in.
-Sitting in front of my small electric heater.
-Watching the sun rise on a really cold winter morning (from somewhere warm inside).

-Visiting a hot spring on a snowy day.
-Making a evergreen wreath for the front door.
-Ultra super fluffy socks and a cozy white blanket.
-Red poinsettias are beautiful this time of year, but white flowers truly are the way to my heart.

What are your winter favorites?  Leave me a comment if you like!

  1. These pictures of you and Spencer are great by the lights! I like all of your ideas - some of my winter favorites: hot cocoa, a good book (inside of course!), and warm mittens! Happy Christmas Eve! - Bree
